In the mean time between projects I wanted to work on a dialogue, Just for practice, and I have seen some really good lectures on lipsync and face fleshiness, so I kind of want to have go.. Here is what I have been working for the past day or so. Short and sweet!

ianimate!!

Sooooo, I have been wanting to do an online animation school for a while, years in fact. So a few months ago I decided OK, I am gonna do it! I enrolled for ianimate.

I am at the end of my first week right now and so far I have to say I am really enjoying it, and I am of course learning a lot. I get Q&A and detailed review sessions with my instructor Mike Walling every week. It's so great to talk to a real professional about my animation, he just thinks of things for a shot that just don't come to my mind, and it really improves my animation.

There is also the vault, which is FULL of past lectures, they are all packed with animation info and I can watch them allll day if I want. Then there's the community, it's really nice to be able to talk to people just like me, who have a passion for art and animation and are really enjoying their work. I'll upload some of my work from the course once it's a bit more blocked out!

Rendering a Shot For My Reel

Well, I have been working on rendering this shot, mostly in the hope of getting some more attention to my work haha. I think seeing rendered shots on a animation reel just shows that you can put in that extra effort to make your work look good. So although it's not necessary for a animation reel, I'm hoping it will set me apart a little more in looking for a job.
I'm actually very happy with it, I'm using HDRI to light and a skin shader.

Pooooooollliisshhh... And More Ramblings...

Taking a while but I think It is nearly there now!! few more days probably and I can put this one to rest..

I am learning a lot through this. I think one thing I have noticed is that, in the past when I have been animating and not really liking something I have done, rather then understand why I don't like it and change it, I kind of tried to make the problem "work". This results in a animation that just doesn't feel complete or finished, because there will be parts that are working and parts that just are not. So what I am doing is just really looking and being critical of my work. If it is not perfect then I am not settling for it and just trying to make it work. I am changing it to make it how I WANT IT to look. I feel like there is just no reason for me, or any animator not to be able to create the best animation we can, I mean we know what great animation looks like, we know what amazes us. So if we want to one day be at that level it's just a case of not settling for work that is not the best that you can do. But it takes time! Just gotta remember that it is completely possible!

ENOUGH RAMBLING, here it is in it's current stage...... Still quite a bit to do!
